If you read the New York Times lead article on Iraq this morning, you’d think Iraq is a lost cause, a death march towards American Imperilism failure, on the brink of civil war. If you go out of your way to find other sources, you discover that as usual, the story is so much more complex than our media would have you to believe. Iraqis cheering for American troops? Check. More electricity created post-invasion than pre-invasion? Check. Genuine hatred of the terrorists? Check.
No one in their right mind would say the situation in Iraq is picture perfect. However, the real picture is drastically different from the one we’re constantly fed by the headlines of the major media sources. That seems like the real dereliction of duty we ought to be looking into.
