Friday and today were worthless in regard to actually writing any software. I have done several useful things today, just none related to software. Part of the problem has to do with the habits learned at BillMatrix, e.g. starting the day by catching up on news and whatnot. That is a deal killer if there ever was one. Starting tomorrow, only email gets checked in the morning and sporadically during the day, leaving news-catching to late in the day.
However, a large part of the problem comes from no ideas to speak of. I’m playing with some new technologies and that helps, but I’m not coming up with anything that I really want to sink my teeth into. Maybe I’m just a company man, an excellent implementer of other people’s ideas. I’m not sure yet which of the two parts of the problem is bigger but by implementing the “no internet before 4” plan, we’ll come to some conclusions pretty fast like.
